About The Community Kitchen Mobile Food Pantry

In 2021, MGC’s Monadnock Food Access Alliance led a feasibility study for a mobile food pantry to reach rural areas experiencing food insecurity.

Working hand-in-hand with The Community Kitchen’s Phoebe Bray and Sarah Harpster, we launched the first pop-up events offering food alongside resources like heating assistance, pet food, and SNAP enrollment in 2022.

Since then, the program has expanded its distributions to year-round, built out volunteer infrastructure, and is developing plans for a centralized warehouse to house NH Food Bank’s charitable donations for distribution.

If you need food, just show up at a stop near you and bring a bag if you have one.

Monadnock Grown Mobile Fund

Informed by surveys implemented among 300+ food insecure households in the Monadnock Food Access Analysis, we learned that access to fresh, locally grown food was their highest need. In response, the coalition launched the Monadnock Grown Mobile Fund (MGMF, previously Locals’ Local Fund) and has raised nearly $100,000 since 2022 to purchase locally produced food for distribution through The Community Kitchen mobile program. Other Ways to Get Food

The mobile food pantry is one of several ways to access free food in the Monadnock region. If you need food outside of the mobile pantry schedule, a food pantry near you may be able to help. You can also use your SNAP/EBT benefits at local farmers markets and farmstands across the region.
