Many residents who qualify for SNAP and other nutrition programs aren't using them. We bring outreach directly to libraries, WIC clinics, childcare centers, hospitals, and Mobile Food Pantry events to change that. Volunteers are needed to help enroll eligible individuals.
The Monadnock Mobile Food Pantry brings free food directly to rural communities that have limited access to grocery stores and food pantries. Pop-up events are held at multiple sites throughout the region, in partnership with The Community Kitchen.
Through this fund, the Mobile Food Pantry purchases locally grown food to distribute at pop-up events, putting fresh local produce in the hands of families who need it most while supporting local farmers at the same time.
We're working to launch a WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program so that WIC families can use their benefits at local farm stands and farmers markets, making locally grown fruits and vegetables more accessible and affordable.
In partnership with UNH Extension, we're training community volunteers to work alongside food pantries and food access sites, helping people understand and use nutrition incentive programs like SNAP and Granite State Market Match.
Getting to food shouldn't be a barrier. We're working with NH Meals on Wheels and community partners to expand City Express bus capacity for grocery trips and grow the Community Volunteer Transportation program to serve more rural residents.
In partnership with Cheshire Medical Center and Monadnock Community Hospital, we're connecting patients to local food access resources through nutrition evaluations and referrals, making sure healthcare visits become a touchpoint for food support.
We're working with statewide partners to protect and continue free and reduced school lunches. We need people to help advocate with policymakers.
